BIMAP Poised To Assist With “RE RE” Training

The Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP) is well poised to provide training to assist Barbados in “getting back on track” under Government’s Retooling and Empowering, Retraining and Enfranchising (RE-RE) Programme.

This is according to Minister of International Business and Industry, Ronald Toppin, who said training is one of the key pillars under that initiative.

Speaking today at BIMAP’s Annual General Meeting, he said the institute offered a broad spectrum of training opportunities, which transcends the borders of age, financial stability, opportunity and selection.

“Our goal is to build a more entrepreneurial citizen and encourage our young and not so young people to become involved in business in a borderless world where technology opens new opportunities once unavailable to previous generations.

“We aim to ensure that Barbadian small businesses producing high value goods and services are able to access international markets, and where possible, benefit from global value and supply chain integration, as stated in Government’s plan for national transformation,” the Industry Minister said.

He continued: “This Government’s vision encompasses a Barbadian who is motivated to achieve personal and national excellence; one who has a strong work ethic and is willing to take risks in the pursuit of important personal and national goals.”

Minister Toppin commended BIMAP for its wide range of course offerings, which includes certificate, diploma and professional certification in functional areas of management, as well as Information and Communication Technology.

He praised the institution for providing training in the creative and cultural industries, as well as banking and finance.

The Minister also lauded BIMAP for providing training and counselling for small enterprises, and for facilitating the assessment of the Technical and Vocational Educational and Training Council’s NVQ and CVQ programmes in Leadership, Management, Customer Service, Information Technology, Accounting, Animation and Financial Sales.

He added that BIMAP partners with companies and organizations to also provide desired programmes for the benefit of their employees.

“This is at the core of national development, and an approach that should be replicated in all spheres of business,” he said.
